Winter Storm Warning Issued for 6 States

Winter storm warnings and weather advisories from the National Weather Service are in effect across six states due to expected snowfall, freezing rain, and hazardous road conditions.

Michigan and Indiana currently have full winter storm warnings, while winter weather advisories have been issued for parts of New York, Tennessee, Minnesota, and Alaska. These warnings indicate significant snowfall and icy conditions in some areas, alerting residents to potential travel difficulties and safety concerns.

A Winter Storm Warning means that heavy snow accumulations of at least 6 inches within 12 hours, or at least 8 inches within 24 hours, are expected. It may also be issued if sleet accumulations are projected to be at least half an inch. Meanwhile, a Winter Weather Advisory is issued for conditions including 3 to 5 inches of snow within 12 hours, sleet accumulation up to 1/4 inch, freezing rain combined with sleet and/or snow, or blowing snow.
