A woman named Revathi has died, and her son Sritej was injured in a stampede at the Sandhya Theatre in Hyderabad during the premiere of Allu Arjun’s film, “Pushpa 2: The Rule.” In an interview with the Times of India,

Revathi’s husband, Bhaskar, shared memories of her. On December 4, fans crowded the theatre, prompting police to conduct a lathi charge to manage the crowd. Revathi was present with Bhaskar, Sritej, and their younger daughter, Sanvi. Reflecting on his late wife, Bhaskar recalled how she donated part of her liver in 2023 for his transplant. He said, “She gave me life, and now she’s gone.” Bhaskar believes that Revathi was fatally injured while trying to protect their son in the chaotic crowd. Sritej suffered “severe hypoxia and potential lung injury.”

Regarding the day of the incident, Bhaskar recounted, “I had decided to drop Sanvi at my in-laws’ home, which is in the lane next to the theatre. When I returned, my wife and son were no longer where I had left them. When I called Revathi, she told me they were inside the theatre. That was the last I heard her voice. I later saw a video of Sritej being carried by a stranger, then being taken in a patrol car that stopped at the Chikkadpally police station. He was motionless as they drove him to KIMS Hospital. I didn’t receive any updates about Revathi until 2:30 AM on Thursday. That’s when some police officers came to break the news to me, and my world crashed.”

In the aftermath of the incident, Allu Arjun expressed his condolences on X (formerly Twitter). He shared a video in which he assured that he and the entire film team stand with the family, announcing ₹25 lakh in assistance for them.

On Thursday, Central Zone DCP Akshansh Yadav stated that Allu Arjun and his security team have been accused in the case, and the police are working to identify those responsible for the incident.
